With two fantastic Bank Holidays this month (Thank you Kate and Will) our free time may take a little more planning than usual. As usual, our top three local events are listed first, followed by an incredibly lengthy event listing for our area – enjoy!


1: The fantastic Mayors Ball!

Thame TV will be providing video footage for the Mayors Ball, held at the newly opened Medowview Park home of Thame United. The Ball is organised to Celebrate Councillor Adam Buckland’s year as Thame Mayor and raise money for two fantastic charities; Thame Wombles (SAFARI) and Thomley Hall in Worminghall. Tickets cost £55 per person, including champagne reception and four course dinner. Tables are available for groups of Ten, please contact the Town Council for more information.

Our video has kindly been sponsored by David Wilson Homes and showcases both Thame Mayors work for the town and council since May 2010, and gives an insite into both charities. 2: The CAB Fashion Show at The Spread Eagle Hotel

On Thursday 14 April 2011, why not attend the fantastic CAB fashion show organised by Sandy Davidson, chair of Friends of Thame & District Citizens Advice Bureau. The group raises money towards the running of the bureau which costs c.£70,000 annually. Contrary to popular conception the CAB are not centrally funded and so have to raise this money annually from donations, trusts and fundraisers such as the fashion show.

In the present circumstances the services of the CAB are needed more than ever. To raise funds for The Thame & District Citizens Advice Bureau, tickets for the show are being sold for £10 each including a glass of wine. The show will be held in the Eden Suite at The Spread Eagle Hotel at 7.0 for 7.30pm, and will be attended by The Mayor & Mayoress of Thame.

Fashions being shown by: Anna McDonald bridal gallery, CC (County Casuals), freerange, Muse, Ricochet and Togs4U supported by Brothers and House of Colour. CC and freestyle will have accessories for sale and there will be a raffle. Tickets are £10 including a glass of wine and are available from participating shops or call 01844 260603 02 214498. 3: Thame Country Fair 24th and 25th April 2011
Venue – Thame Showground, Kingsey Road, Thame, Oxfordshire, OX9 3JL

We absolutely couldn’t miss showcasing the 13th Thame Country Fair – reported to be the biggest yet. In Keeping with all our Country Fairs there are two main show arena’s offering all day entertainment supported by a whole array of smaller country sports and attractions. All three of the main show arenas provide the heartbeat of the show, first class arena entertainment is provided by some of the Countryside’s top sports names and organisations in the UK.

The main attractions consist of a Falconry Village, Target Field Sports, Dog events and demonstrations, Equestrian Competitions and working horse demonstrations, Angling and many more country pursuits. There is also a craft village, chainsaw carving displays and a fantastic array of food, Childrens entertainmnet, stunts, and displays.
