This Friday 2nd Thame Town Centre plays host to none other than actress Gillian Wright as she heads into our town to switch on the Christmas lights! Click here to watch the fantastic highlights of last year’s event, and read on to find out why this year the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Thame is destined to be even bigger and better! (And not just because of the slightly milder weather!)

This fantastic event kicks off at 6pm, but get there early for prime position by the stage and to be the first to sample some fantastic treats from the markets located around the town hall.

The evening kicks off with the Deputy Mayors welcome at 6pm, followed by a lovely Junior Schools Childrens Choir, accompanied by the brilliant Thame Concert Band to really set the mood. Don’t miss the Thame’s Got Talent winner Sam Hemmings as ‘Boogaloo” at 6.17pm, followed by Thame Players at 6.25pm, community singing at 6.30pm, followed by a Christmas blessing from Rev. Paddy Harris at 6.35pm.

After all that festive cheer, join Gillian Wright and the Deputy Mayor as they count down to the switching on of the lights at 6.40pm! To celebrate the official start of Christmas Ultimate Elton will be performing on stage, whom some of you may have seen at the fantastic Music In The Park in May this year.

But that’s not all! There is a special surprise visitor coming to Thame to see all the good boys and girls. Don’t miss his arrival just after 7pm.

There is so much to do for all the family. As well as enjoying all the local musical and theatrical talent there is also late night shopping throughout the town, Farmers’ market, French market and community stalls, a fantastic skating rink and even a ski slope!

What better way to start the Christmas celebrations than to head to Thame Town Centre this Friday! We hope to see you all there!
