On Saturday 14th January 2011 a new world record was set for the longest game of competitive squash at a staggering 31 hours, 35 minutes and 34 seconds. Thame TV was there to witness the highs and lows throughout their time on court, to show Guy Fotherby and Darren Withey’s fantastic achievement.

The event was generously sponsored by The Savoy Sharm El Sheikh, and Meritus Hotels and Resorts – each group sponsoring £100 per hour, per charity. Guy and Darren raised over nine thousand pounds for two fantastic charities; The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children in Henley, and Cancer Research UK.

Guy and Darren were wonderfully supported throughout by Racquets with Nick Wynd and Simon Martin managing a fantastic team of witnesses, time keepers, and markers with many staying to support the boys on court throughout – with special thanks to Andy Ford, Roger Ridler, Kian Guerzoni, Chris Chandler, Mark Webster, Mike Clarke, Christine Bishop and many many others. We would also like to thank Martin King for his clips from local businesses to encourage the boys during the attempt, and our fantastic team at Scissor Paper Stone without whom the filming of this would not have been possible.

What a fantastic achievement for the boys, the club, the charities and our community. It was such an amazing event to be involved in and we hope you enjoy the highlights. Tissues at the ready!
