It’s that magical time of year again, and hasn’t it come around quickly! What better way to spend a crisp winters afternoon than joining in with fabulous entertainment in our home town? Click on the main photo to see video highlights of the switch on event from 2010, and this year’s is set to be bigger and better than ever!

The afternoon kicks off at 3.30pm, with festive stalls and street entertainment, including a fantastic Santa’s grotto. This year’s Thame Christmas event sees the return of the popular skating rink (from 4.00pm), as well as newcomers the Rodeo Reindeer and the snowboard simulator.  You’ll also be able to showcase your skills on the mobile skating ramps.

This will be followed by an evening of entertainment from 6.00pm with appearances from Thame Players, Thame Concert band, carols from local schoolchildren, community singing supported by Thame Chamber Choir and dancing by Stagecoach Thame before the BIG SWITCH ON with a very special guest… Russell Grant!

Be sure to wrap up warm and bring your Christmas spirit as you won’t want to leave before the fantastic finale with music from Little Bill’s Big Band and fireworks to round off the evening after the big switch-on of the Christmas lights.

A number of shops will remain open late in the evening so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done too!  So don’t forget to make a note now – 30 November!
