The festival played host to a huge number of celebrity chefs across the Demonstration and Interview stages, and was kicked off with the 2013 MasterChef winner Natalie Coleman cooking. She met with four lucky children from local schools who had won a competition asking pupils why they wanted to cook, to inspire others to get cooking.

Local Chef and Festival Patron Lotte Duncan hosted the interview stage again this year, providing culinary delights mixed with expert banter, starting with the brilliant Natalie Coleman and interviewing chefs after their demo. She also welcomed a stream of fantastic chefs from Sophie Grigson, Luis Trojan, Frances Qinn, Howard Middleton, Miranda Gore Brown, and the brilliant Ben Ebbrell from Sorted food.

The Big Tame Bake was a new addition to the festival this year and was a real draw, bringing many newcomers to the festival to witness the competition and try some of the delicious cakes, breads and biscuits, all baked by local budding bakers! The competition had many categories and fantastic winners, but was won overall by Vibeke Jepsen from Maidenhead with her superb strawberry tart.

After the prize giving, the festival auctioned off the fabulous cakes to raise money for the Thame Food Bank and to support The Food Festival next year.

The atmosphere of the festival is one which will always bring people back to Thame, and we spoke with festival Ambassador Raymond Blanc about what draws him to the festival “It is so fundamental that food is really part of our society, part of our locality, our farming, our heritage, our culture, and that local food colours our table. That has huge implications; social, economic, political, environmental, and what a joy to have this all here on our doorstep”
