The Thame Tennis Club was bouncing with excitement on Thursday evening as they eagerly awaited the arrival of the Lawn Tennis Association’s Head Of Participation, Rob Dearing, to officially open their four fantastic new artificial clay courts. The opening kicked off the start of the final of the seniors tournament, and gave members and players the opportunity to play on the brilliant new surface.

Here, coach Mark Wilkins talks to Thame TV about the benefits of playing on clay, and how lucky we are as a town to have such a fantastic facility – and the only clay surface in the county. The courts were completed this summer after substantial fundraising to cover £15k costs per court, and the response from members has been amazing.

This is a fantastic facility at a brilliant Volunteer run club here in Thame. To find out more about this fantastic local club, go to www.thametennisclub.co.uk
